The importance of historical events and of the related trauma is emphasized in the representation of the figure of the young Calvino, caught in the critical passage from adolescence to adulthood. It is possible to conclude that this thin book marks a moment of transition in Calvino's narrative that will ultimately result in the editorial project of the Italian Folktales
